Born in Asheville and raised by public school teachers, a connection to the community has always been a central focus for Steven. After graduating from T.C. Roberson High School (Buncombe County), he graduated from Western Carolina University. Steven then graduated from the Wiggins School of Law (Campbell University) and was admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1991.
From 1991 – 2001, Steven was proud to work with the Roberts, Stevens & Cogburn firm (later, Roberts & Stevens). In 2001 he and two former partners from Roberts & Stevens formed Northup, McConnell & Sizemore. From 2001 – 2017, Steven ran the Workers’ Compensation Department of Northup, McConnell & Sizemore, with Charles McGee joining the firm and expanding the workers’ compensation practice beginning in 2006.
In 2017, Steven and Charles formed Sizemore McGee, PLLC. Together they continue to provide dependable legal representation to both insured and uninsured employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in workers’ compensation matters
Steven married his high-school sweetheart after her graduation from Western Carolina University. Together they have raised three children. Like Jill and Steven, their children have maintained close community ties. One daughter is a Western Carolina University graduate and another daughter and son are Appalachian State University graduates. All three children live and work in the Asheville area
As a community supporter, Steven has served as the Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Asheville, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Buncombe County Board of Education, and Chairman of the Soqua District of the Daniel Boone Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He has served as a member of the Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association, and, the Daniel Boone Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He continues to serve on the Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College Foundation Board, the Verner Center for Early Learning Board of Directors, the Buncombe County Schools Foundation Board, and he is a member of the Harry C. Martin American Inns of Court.
